PURPOSE:To miniaturize an image former by providing a platen integrally between paired winding cores inside the case of a cassette. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 17 is pressingly contacted with a platen 20 through an ink transfer film and a paper P to be transferred, and the paper P is fed by rotation of the platen 20. Both ends of the ink film are wound by winding cores 21 and 22 which are housed in the case 23a of an exchangeable cassette 23. The platen 20 is positioned between the cores 21 and 22 and housed in the case 23a in such a way as to enable it to be detached with the cassette. The height HP of the printer becomes one obtained from addition of the height of a thermal head to the height HR of the cassette 23, thus reducing the height H of the device. When exchanging the cassette 23, the platen 20 does not stand in the way, and the needs for mechanism and operation to allow the platen 20 to be released eliminated. |
