For rapid identification of defects in a three-phase supply power system, a reduced voltage is taken from each phase (L1, L2, L3) via a voltage divider and is converted into a DC voltage in a bridge rectifier circuit (V1...V7). Via a voltage comparator circuit (A2), this reduced DC voltage causes the connection and disconnection of a standby power supply or the like and, if required, a very short switching delay. <IMAGE>
