The invention relates to a mechanical speed governor with full load stop dependent on atmospheric pressure connected to the injection pump of an air-compressing injection internal combustion engine, which stop comprises a barometric cell and an adjusting part transmitting the variations in length of this cell, which part, as the air pressure falls, acts against the force of a spring on the governor linkage connected to the control rod of the injection pump so as to reduce the delivery rate. In order to achieve an improved full load control travel trigger behaviour an element is provided additionally counteracting the adjusting force of the barometric cell from a certain adjustment travel of the adjusting part.
