The device is intended especially for the production of slides for overhead projection, and comprises a mounting for originals, a photographic camera and a displaceable mounting for the photographic camera. The object of the invention is to provide a reproduction device which is of simple construction and is easy to handle and in which the original can be displaced by one person on the mounting for originals into the desired position and, in this case, its position on the mounting for originals can be observed at the same time. With this device, the intention is to make it possible to align the original precisely flat for reproduction. The invention consists in that the device exhibits a housing, in that the mounting for originals is an at least substantially horizontally mounted glass plate in the surface of the housing, in that the lower surface of this glass plate carries a reflection-reducing coating, in that a deflecting mirror is disposed below the glass plate, in that the light source employed for the film illumination comprises at least one flashlamp, in that the flashlamp is disposed closely above the housing floor in such a manner that the angle of incidence of the light onto the glass plate is as large as possible and that onto the deflecting mirror is even greater than that onto the glass plate, in that in addition to the flashlamp there is disposed a continuous illumination device, and in that an at least approximately horizontally disposed viewing surface is provided.
