A description is given of an electric desk lamp or the like which has an articulated extension arm (2) which projects from a base part (1) and bears a lamp (3) at its free end. In order to improve the said lamp to the effect that, by simple means, the extension arm (2) can be swivelled relative to the base part (1) in a restricted manner in all directions and, at the same time, simpler handling of the lamp can be achieved, the extension arm (2) comprises at least three identical rods (4) which are parallel to one another. All the rods (4) are articulated on the base part (1) and on the lamp (3) so as to be capable of swivelling in a spherical manner and articulated connections which prevent the rods (4) from twisting with respect to one another are provided. <IMAGE>
