PURPOSE:To provide a composition having remarkably improved thermal stability without lowering the excellent flame-retardance of the base resin, by compounding a hydrotalcite to a composition composed of a polyarylate, a polyamide, a polyalkylene phenylene ester and an aromatic halide. CONSTITUTION:A flame-retardant resin composition composed of (A) a polyarylate, (B) a polyamide, (C) a polyalkylene phenylene ester and (D) an aromatic halide is compounded with (E) a hydrotalcite of formula M1-xM'x(OH)2 Ax1n.mH2O [M is Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu or Zn; M' is Al, Fe, Cr, Co or In; A is OH, F, Cl, Br, NO3, CO3, SO3, Fe(CN)6 or CH3COO; m is positive number; 0<x<=0.5; n is valence of A]. The amount of the component E is 0.01-50wt% based on the component D and the component D is decabromodiphenyl ether.
