In order to provide a simple, operationally reliable, remote controlled axial thrust measuring device, which is maintenance-free in long-term operation, for ships' thrust bearings with reliable limitation of axial travel and of low overall height, the pressure chambers which can act on the thrust segment holder and the thrust bearing housing and which communicate with one another are arranged on the thrust segment holder or on the thrust bearing housing, and covered permanently or detachably by metallic diaphragms which are constructed flexibly and deformably in the subregion or subregions of the cross-section and are configured in a manner resistant to pressure and to bending in the remaining subregions of the cross-section, and the pressure chambers are connected by ducts or lines to one another and/or to a thermohydraulic pressure generator to form an inherently closed hydraulic system. <IMAGE>
