LENGTH MEASURING APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To measure fine dimensions an object unclear in the outline accurately, by displaying measuring points about an image in superimposition with the measuring range controlled by X and Y cursor lines. CONSTITUTION:An image of an object 3 to be measured with a TV camera 1 is memorized into a frame memory 6 through an A/D converter 5 while being displayed on a TV monitor 9 through an D/A converter 8. Two each of X and Y cursors are controlled with a keyboard 10 via a computer 11 and data of a memory 7 for cursor display are altered to be shown on the monitor 9. Then, the range surrounded by the cursor lines X1 and X2 and Y1 and Y2 is set for measurement. Pits D and F, a foresign matter E and the like are identified and removed by moving the cursor lines X1-X2 and Y1-Y2. Measurement is performed for the data in said range.
