PURPOSE:To obtain a lithium battery having a compact size and large charge- discharge capacity by using a material obtained by melting the mixture of V2O5, and one of TeO2, GeO2, Sb2O3, Bi2O3, and B2O3, and one of BaO, WO3 and MoO3 and cooling it as a cathode active material. CONSTITUTION:V2O5 is used as a main material and one of TeO2, GeO2, Sb2O3, Bi2O3 and B2O3 as the first additive, and one of BaO, WO3 and MoO3 as the second additive are added to V2O5. This mixture is melted and cooled, then used as a positive active material. Addition of 1-39% the first additive and 1-25% the second additive is preferable. Lithium or lithium alloy is used as a negative active material. A substance which is chemically stable against positive and negative active materials and in which lithium ions are movable to electrochemically react with the positive active material or the negative active material is used as an electrolyte. |
