PURPOSE:To provide a decreased reflection loss and improved transmission efficiency and to make possible the long-term transmission of laser light by constituting an IR fiber into >=2 layers of the constitution which has a core consisting of a halide of silver or Tl and a specific material is used for the antireflection layer provided to an incident face. CONSTITUTION:The IF fiber is made into >=2 layers of the constitution in which the core is formed of the halide of silver or Tl and the antireflection layer is provided to the incident face. The 1st layer provided on the core is formed of a chloride, bromide or iodide and the 2nd layer provided thereon is constituted of a fluoride. The 1st layer of the antireflecting layer made of the salt, bromide or iodide of lead is preferable in terms of toxicity, water resistance and easy of vapor deposition. The 1st layer has the effect of relieving the stress generated from the difference in thermal expansion between the fluoride of the 2nd layer and the fiber. The fiber has the decreased reflection loss of the antireflection layer constituted in the above-mentioned manner, transmits efficiently the output of a laser oscillator and withstands the laser light having large power for a long period of time and therefore the reduction of the fiber diameter and the improvement of the flexibility of the fiber are made possible. |
