PURPOSE:To obtain a Cu alloy having superior wear resistance and suitable for the manufacture of a gear used especially at high speed under high surface pressure by adding specified amounts of Zn, Al, Ni and Ti to Cu. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a Cu alloy is composed of, by weight, 5-15% Zn, 8-11% Al, 0.2-5% Ni, 0.1-3% Ti and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities. The composition may further contain 0.1-4.8% Fe and/or Co. A molten Cu alloy having said composition is prepd. in a graphite crucible and cast into an ingot in a metallic mold.
