PURPOSE:To separate silver by adsorbing selectively to a copolymer comprising styrene/divinyl benzene having bis(carbonylmethyl polythio) group as substituent to the arom. nuclei by alowing Ag-cong. water to contact with the copolymer. CONSTITUTION:Ag is separated from Ag-contg. water by using a resin comprising a principal skeleton consisting of styrene/divinyl benzene copolymer and having bis(carbonyletmyl polythio) group [-COCH2(S)nCH2CO-, n>=2] as functional group. Most preferred resin to be used easily from technical point of view and advantageously from economical point of view is one having a gel structure and MR type structure comprising a styrene/divinyl benzene copolymer. The shape of the resin may be powdery, granular, fibrous, or membranous.
