PURPOSE:To prevent developing agents in developing units from being scattered to the outside, by setting toner supplying systems of each developing unit to the opened condition only when the developing units are positioned to their toner supplying position. CONSTITUTION:A yellow developing unit 101Y is at its toner supplying position. As a rotating body 300 rotates, a toner back flow preventing shutter 125Y which opens and closes the toner receiving port 120Y of the unit 101Y is separated from the port 120Y and set to a vertical condition and the port 120Y is fully opened. If a motor in a yellow hopper is actuated when the port 120Y is fully opened, the toner in the yellow hopper is replenished to the developing spare chamber of the developing unit 101Y from the toner receiving port 120Y through a pipe and a replenishing port. When the toner replenishment is completed, the unit 101Y is further rotated by 90 deg. by the rotation of a rotating body 300 and set to an upside-down condition as shown by the black developing unit 101b in the figure. When the unit 101Y is set to the upside-down condition, the shutter 125Y is rotated by its own weight and closes the port 125Y. Therefore, the toner never leaks out from the unit 101Y.
