PURPOSE:A polymer being transparent and yet having a good balance among heat resistance, solvent resistance, dielectric characteristics and mechanical properties, prepared by (co)polymerizing a specified polycyclic monomer component with, optionally, ethylene. CONSTITUTION:A polymer comprising a polycyclic monomer component of formula I (wherein R<1>-R<12> are each H, alkyl or a halogen; R<9> or R<10> and R<11> or R<12> may be combined together to form a ring; and when R<9> or R<10> and R<11> or R<12> are H and the other groups do not form a ring, at least one of R<1>-R<8> is a group other than H) and, optionally, ethylene, wherein the ethylene/ polycyclic monomer component molar ratio is 95/5-0/100, the polycyclic monomer component unit chiefly has a structure of formula II, and the intrinsic viscosity eta as measured in decalin at 135 deg.C is 0.005-20dl/g. |
