PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. consisting of a reaction product between a dimer-modified polyepoxide and another type of a cationic resin and forming an electrodeposition coating film which has no crater and has high flexibility and strong (secondary) adhesion. CONSTITUTION:A dimer acid-modified polyepoxide (a) with an epoxy equivalent of 500-5,000 (e.g. polyglycidyl ether or polypropylene glycol) is prepared by addition reaction of a dimer acid obtained by polymerizing an unsatd. fatty acid, with a polyvalkylene glycol polyepoxide in an equivalent ratio of 1.5-2.5/1. Then (a) is made to react with (b) polyoxvalkylene polyamide having an amine equivalent of 55-70 (e.g. poloxypropylenediamine) in such amts. that the equivalent ratio of the epoxide group in (a) to the amine group in (b) is 1/1.15-1.60. The compsn. is obtained by blending 2-40wt% resulting reaction product with 98-60wt% another type of cationic resin.
