PURPOSE:To obtain a strip which is free from the transverse irregularity of the thickness and heat streaks in a process for direct production of the strip prepared by dropping and supplying a molten metal from a nozzle to the peripheral barrel surfaces of rolls by providing a junction guide and smoothing guide between said nozzle and rolls. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal in, for example, circular column array shape, flowing out of the nozzle 1 is made into thin laminar flow 6 by the junction guide 4 made of a heat-resistant plate material and is then made into thin laminar flow 6' having a uniform thickness by the smoothing guide 5 made of the same material in the stage of producing the quickly cooled thin strip by, for example, a twin roll method. The molten metal is supplied and flowed in the form of the broad laminar flow 6' to the peripheral barrel surfaces of the cooling rolls 7, 7', by which the quickly cooled strip having no transverse irregularity in the thickness and heat streaks is produced. |
