CONTROLLER FOR MOTOR POWER STEERING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To provide power assist accurately by varying the motor current command level in the assisting direction for providing a power assist with correspondence to the car speed while controlling a motor with smaller one of said command level or can speed limit command level. CONSTITUTION:Assist direction motor current indicating section 1 will operate an assist direction motor current command level variable with correspondence to the car speed on the basis of a torsional torque signal from torsional torque sensor 11 and a car speed signal from car speed sensor 13 and produce from output torque level indicating functional section 16. The torsional torque signal is compensated of its abrupt variation in phase compensating section 2. Output current limiting section 3 will compare the assist direction motor current command level with car speed limit command level from car speed limit level indicating functional section 31 and provide the smaller one as motor current command level to a control circuit 4. The control circuit 4 will control a motor 5 through said motor current command level.
