PURPOSE:A cell activator that contains, as an active ingredient, branched fatty acids or their derivative and develops satisfactory skin-activating effect or hair- tonic effect, when it is added to a cosmetic for skins and hair in small amount. CONSTITUTION:Branched fatty acids or their derivatives, preferably compounds of formula I -V (l-m are even numbers; R1-R6 are organic groups of straight chains such as alpha-methyloctadecanoic acid, alpha-methylundecanoic acid, beta-propylundecanoic acid, alpha-methylstearic acid, alpha-methylpalmitic acid, alpha- or gamma-methylnonanoic acid or delta-ethyltridecanoic acid is used as a cell activator by adding it to a cosmetic for skins or hair, preferably in an amount more than 0.10wt% to give the objective cosmetic. Further, when more than 0.01wt% of biotin and/ or vitamin B12 are combined, the amount of the cell activator can be reduced to about 1/5. |
