PURPOSE:To fix securely a carriage to a head landing zone by constituting such that a DC solenoid keeps generating force against the elasticity of an elastic body with respect to a stopper during a certain period until the rotation of a DC motor stops. CONSTITUTION:Even if an electric power source +V is interrupted, an electric current flows in the DC solenoid 19, and a solenoid return spring 24 is brought into the stretched state. Until the rotation of the motor 104 attenuates to a certain value, a carriage is not locked. During said state, a return spring 15 rotates the carriage to the inner peripheral side of a magnetic disk 1, and the carriage comes contact with a stopper 10 and stops. Since coils 106 and 107 brake the rotation, the rotational frequency of the DC motor 104 slows gradually. When it drops to the prescribed value, an electric current due to electromotive force cannot stretch the solenoid return spring 24, and a claw ring 21 is fixed by the solenoid return spring 24 and stops by inserting into the groove of a fixed claw 26. The engagement of the claw part suppresses the rotation of the carriage and can be fixed.
