MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To enable high density magnetic recording by successively forming the 1st magnetic layer having an axis of easy magnetization in the thickness direction of the resulting medium and the 2nd magnetic layer of a magnetic body having high coercive force on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The 1st magnetic layer 2 having an axis of easy magnetization in the thickness direction of the resulting medium and the 2nd magnetic layer 3 of a magnetic body having high coercive force are successively formed on a substrate 1. For example, a magnetic body having high coercive force such as an alloy consisting of Co and Cr in 82:18 atomic ratio is vacuum-deposited on a polyethylene terephthalate substrate 1 to form the 1st magnetic layer 2 of 0.25mum thickness, and a magnetic body having high coercive force such as an alloy consisting of Co and Ni in 80:20 atomic ratio is vacuum-deposited on the 1st magnetic layer 2 to form the 2nd magnetic layer 3 of 0.1mum thickness. Thus, two different signals can be recorded and reproduced by making use of vertical magnetization recording.
