PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound, by reacting benotriazolylphenol with an amine and a formamide to give a Mannich base compound, dimerizing it or reacting it with the benzotriazolylphenol. CONSTITUTION:1 mol 4-substituted-6-benzotriazolylphenol shown by the formula I (R is alkyl, or arylalkyl; X is H or substituent group inactive to the reaction) is reacted with 0.5-1.5 mol amine (e.g., primary amine, secondary amine, or morpholine) and 0.5-1.5 mol formaldehyde to give a Mannich base compound shown by the formula II (R1 and R2 is lower alkyl, or R1, R2, and N form ring), which is reacted with the compound shown by the formula I, or the com pound shown by the formula II is dimerized to give a compound shown by the formula III. Both the reaction temperatures are 30-150 deg.C.
