发明名称 PREPARATION OF AROMATIC ALDEHYDE
摘要 PURPOSE:To improve yield of the titled substance which is an intermediate for various organic synthetic reactions without requiring a high temperature, by hydrogenating an aromatic carboxylic acid in the presence of zirconium oxide containing one or more elements of chromium, cobalt, etc. as a catalyst to give the titled substance. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic carboxylic acid or carboxylates expressed by formula I(n is1 or 2;R represents H or residue of hydrocarbone; ring A is bengene ring optionally having substituents, provided that Rn may be different from each other when n=2, and formula II has a substituent when n=1 and R is H) is hydrogenated using zirconium oxide containing >=1 elements selected from chromium, cobalt, indium and rhenium as an essential element as a catalyst to obtain a compound expressed by formula III. It is convenient to carryout said reaction in a fixed-bed process. The amount of the specific element to be added to the catalyst is most suitably within about 0.001-0.1 atomic ratio range based on the zirconium.
