PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film magnetic head excellent in weatherability and mechanical strength by applying pressure to a thin film magnetic head element and a protection substrate through a joint glass layer and jointing them at temperature for ensuring a higher yield point and lower work point than those of the joint glass. CONSTITUTION:The thin film magnetic head element and the protection sub strate are faced each other, and heated and applied in terms of pressure by an appropriate jig and an electric furnace. Here, the joint temperature is set below a work point and above a yield point. Provided that said points of each glass are defined from a practical point of view, are not decided from a proper point of view based on viscosity and do not have an amount defined properly based on viscosity. However, normally a work point is at temperature where viscosity is approximately 10<4> poises, and a yield point is at temperature where viscosity is approximately 10<11> poises. Thus glass at a higher temperature can be used than before, and weatherability and mechanical strength can be im proved. |
