PURPOSE:To measure simultaneously electromagnetic conversion characteristics of a magnetic head and a magnetic tape when a recording track overlaps and does not by means of a pair of magnetic heads by interrupting a recording signal supplied to a pair of magnetic heads for the prescribed period and recording the signal on each track with omitted signal. CONSTITUTION:In the measuring device of a magnetic recording and reproducing device for forming a recording track available from overlapping by means of a pair of magnetic heads at the time of recording, the recording signal supplied to the magnetic head 5 is interrupted by a recording signal interrupting circuit 13 for the period A1, and therefore the recording signal is omitted in some area of the 1st track 1. Then the magnetic head 6 of a CH2 records the track of a track width T2 so that a track pitch on the magnetic tape 7 between the magnetic head 5 of a CH1 and the magnetic head 6 of the CH2 can be TP. In this case, the signal supplied to the magnetic head 6 is also interrupted by a recording signal interrupting circuit 14 for the period A2, and accordingly some part of the recording signal is omitted in the 2nd track 2. Thus the electromagnetic characteristics can be measured in the magnetic heads 5 and 6. |
