Prepn. of benzimidazole deriv. for treating gastric ulcers

The cpd. of formula (I) is made by controlled oxidn. of 2-(2-(3,5-dimethyl) 4-methoxy) pyridyl methylthio 5-methoxy benzimidazole by treatment with a peracid, e.g. m-chloro per benzoic acid, in aq. soln. at 0-10 deg.C. The prod. is extracted with chloroform and purified by conventional methods.
