<p>Optically active glyceryl-aryl ether is reacted with excess diethyl carbonate in presence of alkaline catalyst such as sodium methoxide or anhydrous potassium carbonate to form a dioxolone, b) treating with conc. ammonia in trichloroethylene to ppte. the carbamic ester (I) in soln.. c) filtering to isolate (I) which is purified by washing with water, then drying.
