Quinoline derivs. of formula (I), including their acid addn. salts and metal complexes, are new: R1, R2 and R3 = H, halo, NO2, CN, alkyl, alkoxy or acyl; R4, R5 and R6 = H, halo or alkyl; X= aliphatic, opt. unsatd. linear or branched 1-12C hydrocarbyl gp., opt. interrupted by 1 or more heteroatoms or substd. by halo; Y=H, halo, OH, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkynyloxy, substd. amino, ammonia, cycloaliphatic gp., heterocyclic gp. (opt. substd. by 1-4C alkyl), acyloxy, or (all opt. substd.), phenyl, aryloxy or benzyloxy.
