PURPOSE:To provide the titled material having excellent incombustibility and mechanical strength and having flexibility, by combining a poly-m-phenylene isophthalamide fiber with a carbonized fiber prepared by the thermal decomposition of a rayon fiber. CONSTITUTION:A yarn used as a raw material of the titled fiber material is composed of a blend yarn consisting of a poly-m-phenylene isophthalamide fiber having a thermal decomposition temperature of >=350 deg.C and a rayon fiber, or composed of 100pts.wt. of the blend yarn and 20-100pts.wt. of a poly-m- phenylene terephthalamide fiber having a thermal decomposition temperature of >=350 deg.C. The rayon fiber is pretreated with an agent such as ammonium sulfaminate, ammonium imidosulfonate, etc. and an agent such as monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, etc., and the yarn or a knit or woven fabric is baked at 200-260 deg.C to convert the rayon fiber to thermally decomposed and carbonized fiber. |
