PURPOSE:To measure the lengths of individual plural rod bodies at the same time by recognizing the conveyance-directional irregularity of the rod bodies on a roller table in two dimensions at their front and rear end parts. CONSTITUTION:Data in a storage circuit 14 is scanned in a running direction as to the address of a point (a) to calculate an address Ma where data almost exceeds a threshold value. Consequently, addresses from Ma to M indicate the number of data corresponding to the end part length of a rod body. Similar processing is carried out as to points (b) and (c). Front end part lengths l1, l2, l3...ln which are calculated as mentioned above are stored in a register 16. The rear end parts of the rod bodies 14 are processed similarly and l1', l2'...ln' are stored in a rear end register 17. Assuming that the order of the rod bodies 4 in the conveyance width direction is unchanged between front-end part detection and rear-end part detection, the lengths of the same rod bodies are calculated from l1+l1', l2+l2'...ln+ln'. They are calculated by a length arithmetic circuit 19. Further, the integral length L obtained by a pulse integrating circuit 18 is added to those lengths to obtain the lengths of the respective rod bodies 4. |
