PURPOSE:To improve hysteresis characteristics and a damping effect, by a method wherein a substance, in which an elastic plastic or a plastic material is used as a core material, and which is formed by bending a composite material, prepared by polymerizing a plastic material, into an annular shape, is used in a damping mechanism being employed to a vibration-free structure. CONSTITUTION:An annular member 6 is formed in a way that a composite material 9, formed by filling the hollow part of an elastic plastic material such as annular steel pipe, with an elastic plastic or a plastic material 8, such as lead, is bent into an annular shape. The earthquake resistant structure of a building is formed such that plural isolators 1 and annular members 6 are located between an upper structure 2 and a lower structure 3. The isolator 1 is formed by laminating elastic materials between plural rigid plates. The annular member 6 has the one end secured to the upper structure 2 and the other and to the lower structure 3 and serves to brake horizontal relative movement. This provides a free-vibration structure which is increased in hysteresis characteristics and a damping effect. |
