PURPOSE:To allow each station ST to utilize high-speed slotted ring without overflow by setting a channel CH used in common for each ST and an exclusive CH addressed to the own ST within the range of processing capability of the own ST. CONSTITUTION:A master ST1 and sub ST2-4 are connected in a ring by optical fiber transmission lines 5a-5d to form the slotted ring system communication. One frame of the system consists of fixed length of CH1-CHn and 1CH consists of a display bit BSY of idle/occupied state, a CH control information CNT, a destination ST number DA, a sender ST number OA, transfer information I and a frame check sequence FSC. As for the control information CNT, a CHC used in common for all the ST, an exclusive CHSj assured by each ST as an area to store communication addressed to the own STj(j=1-4) and a non-use CHNU not used by any ST are designated. Each ST sets the sum between the number of the CHSj and the number of common CHC less than the number of channels possible for processing by the own ST and the number of the own ST is described to the destination number DA.
