1,271,750. Electrographic liquid development device. EASTMAN KODAK CO. June 19, 1969 [June 24, 1968], No.31026/69. Heading G2H. Electrographic liquid development apparatus has a receptacle 13 for containing an electrographic liquid developer 12 and means for moving an electrostatic image-carrying surface 10 into and from the receptacle along a development path in spaced face to face relationship with a further surface, e.g. drum core 15, which is arranged to move with the image-carrying surface without relative movement therebetween along a major portion of the path. The drum core 15 may be provided with an outer conductive sleeve 23 to act as a development electrode, and a flange shoulder 24 spaces the two surfaces. In a second embodiment Fig. 3 (not shown) the web (50) passes around three such drums immersed in a single tank and an endless conductive belt (45) engaging the core of each drum acts as a development electrode. In a third embodiment, Fig.4 (not shown), the spaced moving development electrode is formed by an endless belt passing round a pair of rollers (77, 78) immersed in a tank (74), the web (72) moving over and at a distance from, the belt (76). A vacuum knife (83) and an air knife (84) are provided for removing liquid from the web after development. |
