PURPOSE:To obtain a display grade which is stable with a low driving voltage by specifying the ratio of the quantity of electricity for deposition of Prussian blue to the value of a specific range of a display electrode:counter electrode. CONSTITUTION:The ratio of the quantity of electricity for deposition of Prussian blue is adjusted to the display electrode: counter electrode = 1:5-1:50 in an electrochromic display element for which the thin Prussian blue film formed by an electrolytic deposition method is used for both of the display electrode material and counter electrode material. The potential difference of the counter electrode is thereby decreased and the response speed is increased. Setting of the driving voltage to the low value approximate to an ideal value is thus made possible and the stable display grade is obtd. even when two-electrode driving is executed.
