PURPOSE:To improve operability of a change lever as well as to retain positioning of a shift position surely by positioning by an engaging means which stops a check engaging unit by engaging when the shift position is detected. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 13 is in neutral position and in this case, a pair of detecting switches 29a, 29b detecting shift change of 3-speed and 4-speed are both in OFF. When changed from this condition, that is a change lever 27 is operated to change to 3-speed, the sleeve 13 is displaced to the right direction and the sleeve 13 and a 3-speed gear 17 are engaged. When shift change is completed, a check concave unit 31a of a shift rod 21 is moved to an opposite position to a tip end 38 of an actuating rod 37, and moved downward against a spring 39 and entered in a check groove 31a. As the result, the shift rod 21 is locked.
