PURPOSE:To reduce the soil of a main signal by setting the phase pattern of recorded chrominance components so that crosstalk from left and right tracks is offset with each other to the main signal. CONSTITUTION:When the recorded chrominance component phase pattern on a magnetic tape is reproduced by a wide magnetic head, besides a main signal, the crosstalk from left and right tracks is reproduced simultaneously. For instance, in the case where 2 in a magnetic track C is reproduced, in addition to 2 of the track C, 264 of a track B and 265 of a track D are reproduced. Here, the crosstalk from a left side adjoining track B and crosstalk from a right side adjoining track C are set to nearly equal quantity, and the main signal is reproduced to make the crosstalk offset each other. Consequently, the soil of the main signal is reduced remarkably.
