PURPOSE:To obtain a pyridazinone derivative useful as an agricultural chemical, by reacting 2-t-butyl-4,5-dichloro-3(2H)-pyridazinone with sodium hydrosulfide, etc. and a halogenated benzyl derivative. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I is treated with sodium hydrosulfide, etc., and then reacted with the compound of formula II (Hal is halogen; R is H or lower alkyl; X is alkyl, alkenyloxy, alkoxy, etc.) to obtain the objective compound of formula III. The amounts of sodium hydrosulfide, etc., and the compound of formula II can be decreased, and the yield of the objective compound can be increased by adding an inorganic base (e.g. NaOH) to the reaction system.
