PURPOSE:To obtain an acousto-optic switch with which an optical fiber tester capable of taking a high-precision measurement is realized by providing a acousto-optic diflecting element and a band-rejection filter. CONSTITUTION:The acousto-optic switch is composed of a fiber 7 connecting with the light source of the optical fiber tester, a fiber 8 connecting with a fiber to be measured which is placed opposite the fiber 7, lenses 9 and 10 which couple the fibers 7 and 8 optically, an acousto-optic deflecting element 14 placed between the two lenses, the band-rejection filter 15 which reflects the light having a in-use wavelength band as to the light diffracted by the acousto-optic diflecting element 14 after exiting from the fiber 8, a lens 12 which converges the light reflected by the band-rejection filter 15, and a fiber 13 which receives the light converged by the lens 12. This acousto-optic switch is provided with steep wavelength selectivity characteristics because of both the reflection characteristics of the band-rejection filter 15 and the diffraction efficiency of the acousto-optic deflecting element 14.
