PURPOSE:To switch to non-thermal transfer recording mode while a cassette is attached to a carriage by a method in which when non-thermal transfer recording mode is selected, the ink ribbon cassette is moved and the thermal transfer ink ribbon is removed out of the thermal head. CONSTITUTION:An ink ribbon cassette-fitting plate 27 is attached to a carriage 25, and an ink ribbon cassette 36 is attached to the plate 27. Under a condition that a cam plate 32 is not projected from the frame of the carriage 25, a thermal transfer ink ribbon 5 sent out from the cassette 36 is faced a thermal head 18 and operated at a thermal transfer recording mode. When the cam plate 32 is turned and projected from the frame of the carriage 25, however, the plate 27 is pushed up by the plate 32 and turned around drivers 30 and 31. The ink ribbon 5 is removed out of the head 18 and operated at non-thermal transfer recording mode.The rotation of the plate 32 can be controlled in an interlocking manner with the selection mechanism of recording mode for a motor 33. |
