A strand of propellent powder in the form of a right cylinder comprising central channels, characterised in that the said strand 10 is made up of three substantially circular, identical secant lobes, 1, 2, 3 of radius R, the axes of each of the said lobes also being the axes of three hollow, circular, cylindrical channels 4, 5, 6 of radius r, each of the said channels being open to the exterior by means of a hollow radial slit 7, 8, 9 with substantially parallel edges passing through the corresponding lobe along the plane of symmetry passing through the axis of the said channel. The invention also relates to a process for obtaining the strands according to the invention by extrusion of a propellent dough through a die defining a right cylinder consisting of three lobes and provided with three pins and by opening, after extrusion, the lobes of the extruded strand by means of three knives. The invention makes it possible to manufacture powder strand charges in the form of a bundle giving a gas flow which is more progressive than those obtained with traditional bundle charges. <IMAGE>
