Process for manufacturing a reel intended to carry products which have to be packaged in the wound state, and reel obtained thereby. The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a reel which essentially consists in superposing at least two crowns made in two panels of a material comprising corrugations or ribs, these crowns being crossed and being solidly connected to each other in order to form the flanges 12 of the reel. The product to be stored is wound around a drum 15 solidly connected to the flanges 12 through which passes a hub 13 whose axis xx' is coincident with the axis of rotation of the reel 20. The invention is applicable to the manufacture of reels intended for carrying all types of products, such as electrical cables and wires, optical fibres, etc. <IMAGE>
