The master brake cylinder has a main input piston and a floating secondary piston. The main piston is separated from the secondary one by a first spring and the secondary piston braced on the end wall of the housing by a second spring. The master brake cylinder has two pressure chambers and two compensating chambers. The springs and pistons are arranged so that as soon as the brakes are applied the minimal force is obtained, resulting from the differences in the spring forces. This operates the brake control valves with a minimum of delay.
