PURPOSE:To increase the edge covering quality of the coating compsn. and to increase the tensile elongation of a cured coating film, by blending an org. synthetic single fiber and a specified hardener with a solid epoxy resin, and further blending a curing accelerator. CONSTITUTION:The titled compsn. consists of a solid epoxy resin, an org. synthetic single fiber (e.g. vinylon, nylon or Tetoron), a hardener mainly composed of a linear phenolic resin contg. phenolic hydroxyl groups at both terminals, and a curing accelerator (e.g. imidazole or tert. amine). Said single fiber is used in a quantity of 0.5-10pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. epoxy resin. The hardener is used in a quantity of 0.1-1 equivalent based on that of the epoxy resin. The curing accelerator is used in a quantity of 0.2-5pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. epoxy resin. An example of the hardener is a compd. synthesized from bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin.
