A textile product such as smooth moquette is made from a knitted canvas-type base material so that its right side has a tufted uncut pile. The left side has a top layer which strengthens the material by tightening the lower region of the pile. This technique has the advantage of being adaptable to many kinds of base materials. Also, this fabric is lightweight and cheap to produce and if the pile is not knitted, then no binding threads are needed for it. |
