PURPOSE:To produce Al alloy for working having deep gray color tone, by heat treating and hot working an Al alloy ingot having a specified compsn. composed of Fe, Si, Mg, Ti and Al, further surface skin part composed of Al delta phase, under suitable conditions. CONSTITUTION:The Al alloy ingot composed of 0.4-1.0wt% Fe, 0.05-0.25% Si, 0.3-1.5% Mg, <=0.10% Ti, further if necessary 0.0003-0.03% B and the balance Al with inevitable impurities, while satisfying 6.5+3XMg%<=Fe%/Si%, is cast so that dendrite arm spacing at the region of 20mm depth from surface is regulated to <=50mum, to obtain the ingot in which >=70% of whole Al-Fe intermetallic compounds in surface skin part from surface to 50mm depth are occupied by FeAl delta phase. Next, the ingot is heated at 350-480 deg.C for 0.5-12hr, then hot worked at temp. lower than that. By this way, Al alloy for working having stable gray or dark color tone after anodic oxidation treatment and superior corrosion resistance is obtd.
