PURPOSE:To form a thin display tube having comparatively wide display area and realize selective luminous display by the two poles tube structure of the anode providing phosphor material layer and the cathode providing hot electron emitting substance. CONSTITUTION:A cathode base 11a at the one surface of metal plate 11 such as nickel or tungsten is formed thinner than a cathode conductor 11b at the other side with narrow line, large electrical resistance and can be heated by electrical power. The lower part of cathode base 11a has an interval 12, while the cathode conductor 11b supports the cathode base 11a. Moreover, the cathode base 11a is coated with a hot electron emitting substance 13 such as oxide of (Ba, Sr, Ca)0. As explained above, since the hot electron emitting source has the integrated structure using the same metal plate for the cathode base and cathode conductor, the alignment at the time of assembling can be done easily, highly accurate positioning is possible and handling or assembling can also be simplified. |
