PURPOSE:To inform the approach of a patrol car, etc., by storing frequency characteristic data on a specific sound in a microcomputer and permitting the microcomputer to judge and compare the similarity of data on a sound recorded by a microphone device with said data. CONSTITUTION:Frequency characteristics data on a siren of a patrol car is stored in the memory of the microcomputer 7, and judged and compared with the measured frequency characteristic data. When the similarity can be found, judgement information is outputted to a signaling device 8 (output device). Where the similarity cannot be obtained as a result of the comparison and judgement, the frequency characteristic data on the siren of an ambulance car stored in the memory of the computer 7 is judged and compared with the measured frequency characteristic data in terms of similarity. When the similarity can be obtained, information is outputted to the signaling device 8: otherwise, the judgement information is outputted to the signaling device 8, and the operation is returned to A/D conversion relating to the initial sound pressure level. Thus the approach of a patrol car, ambulance, etc., can be earlier reported to a driver.
