PURPOSE:To obtain a phosphor having a small particle size and lowered luminous intensity by incorporating AlF8 in a strontium pyrophasphate phosphor activated with a divalent tin. CONSTITUTION:A blue strontium pyrophosphate phosphor activated with a divalent Tin, in which 0.005-2.0wt% AlF8 is incorporated. In said phosphor, of AlF8 concn. >2.0wt%, it is difficult to obtain one of a small particle size because of difficulty in control of a solid phase reaction. With less then 0.005wt%,its effect is not recognized. The phosphor is generally used for stimulating the growth of plants or as a blue light-emitting component of an artificial lighting far appreciating a foliage plant and fish, and it is also suitable for a blue light-emitting component of a common deluxe fluorescent lamp or for a monochromatically blue light-emitting fluorescent lamp.
