PURPOSE:To form a curved surface with high precision by forming the curved surface with the movement of a base material while detecting the surface condition of the base material and in accordance with the detected result. CONSTITUTION:Data on a base material 13 and data of built-up monomolecular films are inputted to a controller 8. Then the base material 13 is placed on jig 14, the shape of a curved surface before the formation of a film is evaluated by a means 17 for detecting the shape of the curved surface, and the result is sent to the controller 8 as an initial value. The optimum condition of a liq. is calculated by the controller 8, and the driving conditions of each driving part 16 are determined. While the surface pressure is measured by a pressure sensor 9, the driving part 16 is controlled by the controller 8 on the basis of said result. The range of the deposition of a monomolecular film and the number of the built-up layers are freely controlled in this way, and a curved surface is formed with high precision.
