PURPOSE:To obtain a titanium alloy plate which has an excellent equi-axed alphaphase structure, and also is excellent in mechanical characteristic, by rolling an alpha+beta type titanium alloy slab by a specified reduction in area, and subsequently, heating and holding it at beta transportation point, and thereafter, quenching it. CONSTITUTION:An alpha+beta type titanium alloy ingot is forged or brought to blooming. This slab is rolled by >=10% reduction in area in an alpha+beta area, and subsequently, heated and held at beta transformation point - beta transportation point + 150 deg.C, and thereafter, quenched. By this heat treatment, a grain boundary alphaphase generated in an ingot breakdown process, and a bulky alpha+beta lamellar phase are made to disappear. In accordance with necessity, said slab is rolled by >=40% reduction in area in an alpha+beta area, and a homogeneous equi-axed alphaphase structure is obtained. Subsequently, heat treatment such as annealing, solution and aging treatment, etc. is performed. As a result, a titanium alloy plate whose both strength and ductility have been improved, in mechanical characteristic, too is obtained.
