PURPOSE:To relieve the load of a central processor when an opposite terminal device or a computer is in an idle state by constituting a polling transmission management flag and a polling list in the communication control equipment so as to give the polling control function to the communication control equipment. CONSTITUTION:One bit of a polling management flag corresponds to one terminal device. A polling list for n-terminal's share is stored in a RAM area. The central processor 13 sets a polling transmission management flag corresponding to a terminal device transmitting the polling and requests polling transmission to a communication control equipment 12. The communication control equipment retrieves the polling transmission management flag sequentially by the round robbin system, extracts a polling sequence of the corresponding terminal device from the polling list with the terminal device whose flag is set and transmits the sequence to the communication line. When a control code EOT is received as a response, the control restores to the retrieval of the polling transmission management flag to seek the terminal device from which the polling is to be transmitted next. This operation is repeated in an idle state when no data to be transmitted to the terminal device exists.
